Orange Juice

Orange Juice

Jennifer LIU
Mid-Autumn Festival, 2007

I would like to have a glass of orange juice with you.
Beer is too complicated,
while orange juice is so much better.
It is so pure,
and so sweet,
just like you.

This poem was dedicated to someone. He would never know, though.

I Did It My Way

My Way.

Eye of the Beholder Extended Ending

As one of my favorite movies, Eye of the Beholder has the kind of saddening effect that has been haunting me ever since I watched it for the first time. Mostly this is because of its heart-breaking ending, with Joanna (the leading actress) dying in the arms of Eye (the leading actor). And I remember as the "cast" rolled, I thought: This CANNOT be the ending!

I guess a lot of fans of Eye of the Beholder would find this extended ending comforting.

The dialog in English:

Eye: "Who are you visiting?"
Girl: "My mum. And you?"
Eye: "My wife. - What's your name?"
Girl: "Lucy!"

South Park is Funny, Crudely

THE FOLLOWING PROGRAM CONTAINS COARSE LANGUAGE AND DUE TO ITS CONTENT IT SHOULD NOT BE VIEWED BY ANYONE.”

Have a Little Patience

Take That is history. Yet sometimes history replays.

Their new single "Patience" is typical brit-pop, and therefore, not bad. The theme is sorta like Enrique's Sad Eyes, though.

And how about Erique's Sad Eyes?

Is a Losing Battle Worth Fighting For?

It has been a long time since last time I logged on to Blogger. And the next time I tried jennifersadventure.blogspot.com, there was this good old GFW.

Well let it.

Long time no see. How have you been pals? I missed you.

I have been really busy these days, but I learned a lot of new things, and still I am learning. Although I think that probably the lazy days when I logged on to Blogger everyday and shared my thoughts with you will never come back, I am still here--I am not leaving.

Paradise Lost

Ladies and gentlemen, it's Show Time!"

On Life as It is in the Universe (For a Friend)

Hi, Bill, this entry is for you.

I have to admit that I come to realize that my “different pictures” theory simply does not make a satisfactory answer. So I give a second thought to your idea of thinking about life as it is in the universe.

Since it was wrong for Aristotle to believe that we were the center of the universe, I guess it is just as wrong for you to think that we are the far end. Aristotle was egotistic, and you, too modest.

It is true that the three worlds of existence, microcosm, macrocosm and cosmocosm, run in different ways, but it does not necessarily make them separate pictures. There are interconnections. A trivial difference in the arrangement of carbon atoms ends up with substances with drastically different properties. And the Moon, which is approximately 385,000 miles away, affects ocean circulation on the Earth. These are the ways microcosm and cosmocosm influence us--how we influence them is yet to be discovered, though. That is to say, we influence the universe in a way that we have not found out yet, which is sort of like Carl Jung’s synchronicity theory, or Edward Lorenz’s butterfly effect.

You mentioned that millions of outer space cultures might be dying the moment you wrote that comment. Well they, if there are any, might. And their absence in the universe does affect us—in a way that you are not aware of. Or, at an intelligible level, you lost some of your most favored stars in the summer night sky. And if we die, they are going to lose one, too--that most beautiful one.

So come on, Bill! We do make sense! And you know what? You are not just pretending to be a fool—you are a fool. In fact, you are so silly that you do not realize that the future of the entire universe might look completely different only because you wear your smile today.

所以最后一句话应该改成:...the future of the entire universe might be so different only because you wear your smile today.

Where is Your Home?

In some episode (I forget which one) of Prison Break, our beloved character "Van Gogh" passed away. Although it almost becomes a "fashion" to write a "prayer" for every character that died in Prison Break, I do not plan to do so. And it seems that Haywire does not worth it, either—he does not seem to belong to this world where we do.

Then we heard this song Home at Haywire's fall. It felt a bit strange, but not out of place. "Home", such a warm word. It is so warm that people often forget why it is.

Dictionaries would not miss out on the word "family" for the entry "home", yet they might forget the word "destination"—although probably the word "home" "shines" because of, not "family", but "destination". There is a line in Trainspotting said by the character Mark Renton: Here I was surrounded by my family and my so-called mates and I've never felt so alone. Probably he felt this way because he felt his destination missing.

Where is your home? Maybe it is not about family, but it must be about where you belong. Is it where you are now, or is it the neverland that you have been looking for for so long, with blue sky, bright sunshine, and windmills rotating with refreshing breeze?

But I guess the lyrics are right anyway, One day you really got to go home.
